Molly Pope

Viola

Molly Pope is a 17-year-old violist who was born in China and grew up in central Florida. She started playing viola at age 5 and currently studies with Dr. Jesus Alfonzo, viola professor at Stetson University. In seventh grade, she became the youngest member of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra (FSYO) Symphonic Orchestra and will be serving her third year as principal violist this season. In 2018, the FSYO Symphonic Orchestra toured the east coast of the U.S. and performed at Carnegie Hall, where Molly first served as principle of the FSYO Symphonic Orchestra. Additionally, Molly has attended the FMEA All-State Conference five times and has served as principal twice and assistant principal twice. She has attended the Curtis Summerfest Young Artists Summer Program, where she was selected to be assistant principal, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Orchestra program and String Quartet Workshop. This past summer, Molly was selected to be a part of the National Youth Orchestra. As a rising senior, Molly plans to continue the path of music in college and as a career.
