Jinglang Su

Piano

Jinglang Sun started playing piano as a teenager, taking serious lessons since 2003 at the Xi'an Conservatory. In 2004 he went to the Shanghai Conservatory to take lessons from Professor Jacky Tang. In the spring of 2012 he started education at Mt. San Antonio College under Dr. Masako Klassen and in 2014 he studied private lessons with Mina Perry, playing Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Prokofiev, Debussy, and Mendelssohn. In 2017 he started studying piano performance at California State University Northridge (CSUN) with Dr. Dmitry Rachmanov and is currently studying with Professor Mark Richman. From 2015-2019 he participated in the John Academy Festival and joined several chamber music ensembles, took many theory courses, and played in the CSUN Studio Ensemble, an group dedicated to performing pop music and scores from Hollywood films. He has loved Italian Opera and Chinese folk songs since he was young and wants to become an Opera Director in the future.

 

On November 9, 2019 he held a solo piano Junior recital at Cypress Hall in CSUN with repertoire that included Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Debussy.

On March 7, 2020 he collaborated with Shanghai Conservatory professor Jacky Tang at CSUN to play the Second Movement from the Yellow River Piano Concerto, Ode to Yellow River.

 

Jinglang plans to advance to a graduate program, wishes to organize international festivals, wants to help future pianists grow, and has a desire to build a relationship between the Shanghai Conservatory and CSUN.
